IGTAP Bonus Area: Entry Route and Timer

IGTAP hides a timed bonus area behind the main courses. Here is how the entry technique works, what abilities you need, and the times players report.

IGTAP has a secret bonus area with its own timer. It sits apart from the normal course list, it has checkpoints, and finishing it records a time just like any other course. It is optional, hard, and worth doing once you have the movement abilities.

What the bonus area is

It is a separate timed run rather than a hidden room. When you enter, the game starts a clock. A launchpad and checkpoints are placed along the route, so it is built to be repeated rather than survived once.

Players describe it as the hardest optional content in the early game. One recording shows roughly a thousand attempts before the first clear.

Where the entry sits

The most concrete community answer comes from a Steam thread about reaching it. The accepted reply describes the technique step by step:

  1. Dash into the edge below the target wall.
  2. Use an enhanced wall-dash-jump to gain extra height.
  3. Dash again at the highest point of that jump for consistency.
  4. Jump once more, which should give just enough height to reach the next wall without hitting spikes.

Another player ties the area to the space above the fourth course, asking how to get past those spikes and how to finish the bonus level in the same breath.

Why the demo answer was different

During the demo, many players concluded the bonus area could not be completed. The reason was polarity: spike blocks could not be switched, so a route stayed closed.

Recorded runs disagree with that conclusion, at least partly. One player completed the area repeatedly and posted times, while others reported that swapping polarity was impossible in their build.

The full game includes the polarity ability as a normal unlock at 59.6% completion, which removes that obstacle entirely. If you read an old thread saying the area is impossible, check its date.

What times players report

The clearest benchmark comes from one player’s recorded session on the area. The sequence was 128 seconds for the first clear, then 55 seconds, then 38.96 seconds.

Treat those numbers as a difficulty illustration rather than a target. The recording is from the demo period, and the launch build changed both the character and the physics.

How to clear it

  1. Bring the movement set. Wall jump, dash and double jump are the practical minimum for the entry technique.
  2. Turn checkpoints on and clear it once. Speed comes after a completion, not before.
  3. Confirm the timer started. If no time appears, you are still on a normal course.
  4. Learn the launchpad timing. It is the one shortcut the designers placed for you.
  5. Then chase the clock. The same player cut the run from 128 seconds to under 40 in one session by removing wasteful movement.
  6. Expect the return to pay twice. A better time on this area also improves the clone income attached to it.

How it connects to speedrunning

The bonus area is one of the reasons IGTAP has a running scene at all. The leaderboard site lists 15 levels for individual timing, and the bonus area behaves like one of them: enter, get timed, repeat.

That structure is why the area matters beyond curiosity. It gives runners a short, repeatable, high-difficulty target with an official clock attached.
